Research

The Fernandez lab investigated developmental transitions in plants at several levels. We investigated the role of MADS domain factors in the regulation of flowering time, floral organ abscission, and pollen growth and development. We also investigated protein sorting during plastid biogenesis. We identified and studied components of membrane-specific translocation systems that ensure proteins are directed to the right place at the right time.
