Research
I study basic organic processes at the interface between ecology and evolution, especially in birds. Recent studies emphasize application of generalized symmetry principles to discover invariant processes that act across divergent patterns in communication and physiology. I divide my time between my lab in Madison, field work with colleagues at the National Biodiversity Institute (INABIO) in Ecuador, and writing papers in Boulder Colorado.
