Graduate Application: Checklist
All applicants must complete the Graduate School’s online application form, which includes:
- A series of forms requiring personal, demographic and background information
- Reasons for Graduate Study/Statement of Purpose:
- Describe your current degree goals and reason for selecting either the Botany, Freshwater and Marine Sciences, or Integrative Biology program.
- Upload this statement as a separate document (Adobe PDF or MS Word preferred).
- Current CV
- Upload a separate document (Adobe PDF preferred).
- Unofficial copy of transcripts.
- This does not replace the need to submit official transcripts.
- Three letters of recommendation
- (references from faculty or supervisors who are familiar with your academic, research and/or professional qualifications) to be submitted online.
- Application fee
- This fee is non-refundable and should be made payable to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
- Some students are eligible for an application fee waiver through The Graduate School: https://grad.wisc.edu/apply/fee-grant/
- If a student still has hardship to pay for the application fee and does not qualify for a fee grant from The Graduate School, they can contact the graduate coordinator directly for further assistance.
- Supplemental Application
- Your specific program may require a supplemental application which you will be able to access after you initiate the general application process.
- Official Transcripts
- If you are recommended for admission by the program, the Graduate School will request official transcripts along with instructions on how to send them to the university.
International Applicants:
- All international degree-seeking applicants are required to provide proof of English proficiency. For more information on this requirement, check the English proficiency section on the Requirements for Admission page.
- Financial information will be requested by International Student Services through Terra Dotta after recommendation by the department and admission by the Graduate School.
